Memories of the
pot plant on the window sill.
Mum’s purple Orchids.
Favourite green dress
Worn until the cotton frayed
Another green dress
A glass heart breaking,
shards of brokenness scatter,
strewn mercilessly.
The new moon darkness,
starlight brightens the ink night,
floating in the pool.
Resolutions fade.
The trees are laughing at your
failed exercise plan.
deconstructed art
your impressions of farming
surreal cow shit
I watered the lawn
daily never expecting
many weeds to thrive.
Mum, you are over
three thousand kilometres from
a hug and some tea.

Oppressively hot,
humidity in the south,
fan, cooling, and chill.
The old-growth forest
disappearing from this land
for reflex paper
