My Rebellion

Another day of living
death waits for me to arrive
Living like an immortal

Another poem demands the pen
self-censoring my words
Living like I do not have a voice

Another unkindness, another war
my poetry is my rebellion
Living without the fear of censure

The weight of hypocrisy
weighing down my shoulders,

until I can no longer stand up,
nor cry for the suffering

I see

I hear

I dare not look away from this,
I will not turn the news off

There is humanity and kindness
within my thoughts

and in my

quiet rebellion against fascism
