You, Me, & the Sea

Poetry | Stories | Photography

Burning Summer heat
gems and jewels curl around your skin
A Poseidon kiss
Oblivious to reality
aqua sea, premonitions
A snake coils around your arms and hips
Something falls away
the past and the present meet
Your goblet drops, rolls
All the glory, love
you wanted to deny the sad truth
Love, a life no more
Broken houses
the sea crashing into the rocks
Dark sea spray
Below, quiet sea business
twilight faded from hours passed
The deep darkness arrives
Lonely empty houses
unlived and unloved since the war
The sea and the rocks
whispers of a place now a non-place
Hidden in darkness
the moon betrays my form
No longer hidden
The houses long for me to stay
Inhibitions forgotten
Floating in the saltwater
A seagull dives close
Washed up on the sand
rolling around like a whale
white skin fluorescent
Lifting a lazy leg to wave
Passersby think you’re odd
Shells and sand all over
You roll back into the sea
the seagull dives for your togs
boobs bobbing just below
Colourful coral
the tentacle of a playful octopus
Colourful fish
What once was love
Bleached coral
The absence of octopuses
Bloated fish
What love now remains
In the sea of love and loss
where perceptions alter understanding
we laugh and cry underwater
Moonstruck by Shadows
Captivated by an aura
Movements in the moonlight
Sea shadows hypnotise
Feeling the sand consuming
Ghostly ships appear
Whispers from dead sailors
Sirens calling from the depths
She is moving closer
Calling out for answers
No one stirs in the moonlight
A Vision
A terrible heat
the desert covers our land
longing for raindrops
A vision of the sea comes
the feeling of a river
With the Sea
Far from the traffic
We stop thinking about time
Daydreaming away
Now that the sea is so close
No whispering from afar

Alone without the Sea
The sea is too wild
the waves are crashing loudly
so unnatural
You boycott walks to the sea
you sit alone wondering

A Saltwater Love
All or nothing was the lesson;
a love rush blinded my equilibrium
You said to wait a while for love.
So many tides move, and the sea
whispers of the past and the future.
I learnt my lesson with your love.
Yet, the never ending wonder,
will you return to me?
Standing on the sand alone,
the sea whispers new words today.
A kiss on the cheek,
you’re lucky I’m so old;
becoming saltwater with you.
