Muse

07/09/202203/09/2022 C and K WordsLeave a comment

Other people have a great beauty to adore or a muse of flesh and blood.

Yet when she sits and writes poetry, such inspiration does not come from the beauty of the flesh.

Instead, she sits with pots and pans, touching, rubbing and feeling them.

The kitchen is her muse.

The Dead

You woke from a nightmare and told me about the dead people terrorising you.

I smiled and said, “Dear niece, the ash of a billion people covers the land. We touch the remains of the dead daily. My love, the dead cannot hurt you; leave that to the living.”

A Sweet Love

He walks constrained by a constant diet.

Every walk past the bakery caused him to whelve his love for carrot cake, doughnuts, and vanilla slices.

All whelved out on a Saturday morning, he purchases all three and sits at home looking at them lovingly.

Not a Rose

Elegance in abundance. A beautiful flower in a sea of ordinary flowers.

Standing there, gosh, I would have believed you were a rose.

Now, knowing what I know, you are an Oleander. A beautiful toxic Oleander.

Oh, how I hate you, and I wish I didn’t know.

Bubbles

Asleep with your eyes open,
each bubble forms with a thought inside.
Between two states of mind,
bubbles are forming and cluttering the house.
Awake, you dance around
the house, popping and sampling your thoughts.

A Modern Druid

From home to work, there was no warming up. Cold from the inside out, yet warm to the touch, something old and wretched continued to burn within the old Druid’s skin.

Hungry and cold, when lunch arrived, she ordered a cheeseburger with extra pickles and then ate it at her desk.

With or Without You

10/08/202206/08/2022 C and K Words2 Comments

With you without solitude, I dream of living alone in a secluded Winter forest house with animals and spirits to keep me company.

Without you in solitude, I dream of living with you in a house full of laughter with the Spring sun moving on the table.

Longing with or without you.

The Hallway

Frozen solid; Frightened by fear.
Clutching the bear, courage and curiosity take hold as she peers down the hallway.
In the darkness, something moves. A silent scream pierces the night.
She stands frozen solid with fear until Daddy scoops her into his arms and gives her a big hug.

The People’s Politician

Birthed into poverty,
hardship and sorrow
mixed with love & joy.

Growing up was hard,
yet the desire to succeed
was strong within you.

As a politician, you embraced
egalitarianism
and social democracy.

All people deserve health care,
education and housing.

You lost every election, yet
your legacy lives on.

A Poem from Lockdown

11/07/202203/07/2022 C and K WordsLeave a comment

Too much seclusion from the terror of humanity;
Toilet paper sequestration neither deters nor hinders idiots.
As humanity leaves nature to fall, you withdraw into a cocoon of sadness. Not even the moon can console your fears and longing for love’s touch.
