A Shiver

02/10/2022 C and K WordsLeave a comment

A sun-kissed day.

A light breeze moves the grass in sea waves.

The long grass resists the mower blades, as the yellow-flowered weeds lament never seeing the bees again.

A shiver reminds me that Winter wants to hold on, yet Spring is here to stay.

clear, cool winter sky
revealing hidden colours

Cool Against the Skin

06/09/202203/09/2022 C and K WordsLeave a comment

A faint whisper
from a long summer.

A dark blanket
from a cold winter.

By the sea,

By the hills,

By both, we
feel cool
against
the skin.

Winter to Spring

04/09/202203/09/2022 C and K WordsLeave a comment

Encased within winter,
between the green hills
and
the blanket grey sky
you hear a faint whisper.

You hear a whisper
from spring,
a spring
cool
against
the skin.

My Season

21/08/202214/08/2022 C and K WordsLeave a comment

A wild rain soaks the ground,
the wind whips the rain coming down,
the temperature drops down.
My beloved winter season,
I must bid you farewell once again,
to welcome another spring.
I will miss the cold winter nights,
yet I must let you go,
to move towards the north again.

Something Sweet

15/08/2022 C and K WordsLeave a comment

Winter’s twilight.
Oh, grey and dull work day,
go away and leave the rest of today,
for I wish for somethin’ strong and sweet!
Childhood memories of creaming
soda soft drinks and sugary spiders.
No longer a child, yet naughty feelings
set in with the grey as I drink my stout.

Frost in the morning
A quiet mist hanging low
Gloves for the journey

A Charmer

02/07/202226/06/2022 C and K WordsLeave a comment

Lovely eyes
so full of light
A soft heart
alive at night

By the Winter moon
within clouded starlight
Do not go too soon
dancing in the moonlight

Beautiful flower
a charmer of the night
Womanly power
take me into the light

Winter Nose

01/07/202226/06/2022 C and K WordsLeave a comment

watching the last colours
grey, mauve, dirty white
distant layers of lost coral

disconnected in the dark
the tip of my nose feels cold
a quiet feeling at five pm

the coral layers are no more
between twilight and the night
my whole nose is cold now

Very Short Story: The Snarl

08/05/202203/04/2022 C and K WordsLeave a comment

Spring is on the wind, flowers begin to bloom, and the day is new.

Walking to remember the Winter you cannot forget, walking to shed some of the much-loved Winter calories.

Passing by a new neighbour, the dog greets you with a smile and the neighbour a snarl.
