Caught by the sunlight
Mortar and Pestle pummel
a little pesto
Today you are Italian
flour footprints and sips of wine
Hiker
an untamed hiker
legs followed by the body
conquering mountains
audacious and often rude
Kindness exchanged for the gifts
Snow falls on her face
Destiny has found her soft
a mirror image
The conqueror now conquered
They are both linked by the snow
Saturn Comes
Saturn comes for me
I watch myself start to change
Lost motivation
I am conscious of failing
Does the Law matter to me?
Hiking for One
So many failures
What could have been plays the reel
wrinkles are forming
imaginary goals
laughter from the family
Begone with this shit
beginning the journey
feeling Bilbo Baggins vibes
minus the gold ring
hiking party for one
The hill eluded her for years
tripping over grass
Early Spring
Hoping for the rain
Saying goodbye to Winter
Sneezes replace speech
Bird Watching
a tempting solace
watching the way the birds dance
in the backyard grass
Nearing the End
The trap was hidden
once in love with ideas
driven to succeed
I paid with my time
dreaming of billable hours
lost in the targets
competing for space
pungent air in open plan
bitchiness on tap
holding myself close
fear of losing my income
health aligns with fate
walking away
Forest Music
drums from the forest
Nature’s bass is low and deep
ancient vibrations
The humans from long ago
Their spirits fill the forest
Monday Soon
the sun went on holiday
Birds sleep, dreaming about singing
you want to watch the reels
Monday will come too soon
cleaning and the bullshit can wait
I want to feel Vellichor
we come to an agreement
You stay put in your happy chair
coffee and books for me
Pre-Friday Fog Thoughts
Forgotten in Fog
Feeling the weight of your world
Floating towards sky
NOTES
A pre-Friday workday, car-sitting, fog-enshrouded haiku.
Some days I sit in my car and wonder what the fuck I’m doing with my life, and then I realise I need to work.
The weight of it all lifts when I drown in the largest coffee I can find.
All is well until it is not. I keep placing one foot in front of the other.
