A long storm rages
the sea whips about wildly
a long night ahead
Come Alone
Come to me,
leave everything you love alone.
Be with me;
give up your humanity for me.
Live with me;
love me more than you love them.
Come alone;
with one bite, I will free you from
humanity’s snare and guide you
into the shadows and the dark.
Haiku: Sorrow
A dream unfulfilled
sailing along narrow fjords
too poor in sorrow
Only You
only you,
no one else.
take your brush,
run the bristles through
and set it well.
rub concealer
upon your face and neck
to hide you.
run a pash stick
over your ruddy lips to
hide the peeling.
wear something
not so revealing, yet a
little unlike you.
say your goodbyes,
whisper to your Mother,
“Goodbye, Mum”.
take a small case,
only the significant things
you hold so dearly.
come alone to me,
tell me nothing remains and
all pain will cease.
Haiku: Put
We put you away
in a draw where no sunlight
could dance upon you.
Very Short Story: Night Noises
Jolted from sleep by thoughts of work and unfinished hobbies, he staggers towards the noise.
Aliens or maybe even a portal to another universe await.
Still baffled, he moves closer to the laundry: the dryer malfunctioned.
He hears his wife say, “Go towards the light, darl!”
Haiku: Ways of the Wind
Wondering which way,
hoping for inspiration,
the ways of the wind.
Very Short Story: The Snarl
Spring is on the wind, flowers begin to bloom, and the day is new.
Walking to remember the Winter you cannot forget, walking to shed some of the much-loved Winter calories.
Passing by a new neighbour, the dog greets you with a smile and the neighbour a snarl.
Haiku: Between
I will meet you there,
between the rubbish bin
and the dying flowers.
Little Birds
To feel the sun,
the warmth of another day.
The birds talk of wild times in the sky
while I sit here typing away.
They never said my days would be long,
nor my paper trail much longer.
I open the window expecting the birds to stay,
yet they get scared and fly away.
