a virtual museum
the children watch humans from centuries ago
their attributes are
so different from anything the children understand
an uncontrolled sea
landscapes with rolling hills, trees, and sunlit animals
A natural freedom these children will never know
Have you ever seen the grass move like waves of the sea?
Even here, the sea is never far from you and me.
a hot wind blows
through my clothes to burn my skin
as I think of you
resting in a place so far from the sea
so that you could
be close to the son you loved so much
reduced to ash
I think of you resting without adventure
and I wonder
if I should have given you to the sea
From the first word
sinking into deeper water
Forgetting the world
submerged in saltwater
Feeling the wilting
swimming for the shore
Finish the last word
sorrow with empty shells
by the sea
lost in dreams and the waves
a rousing fire from within forms
dry, cracked lips
you linger beyond the horizon
coffee and cake
sipping tea with laughter
caressing your career
playing with other fires
at the shore
an affinity for saltwater
and
this sorrow
the piercing sunlight
speak words of comfort to me
talk about the sea
show me pictures of nature
tell me the news isn’t real
Unconstrained freedom
The promise of my Springtime,
yet Winter lingers
The pen moves to my music
I hear the sea calling me
Intrusive thoughts
devouring the present
haunting the past
A feeling takes hold
jump in the car and leave
Go on an adventure
Too many adult problems
money on the mind
Irresponsibility shaming
Drive away in the darkness
quiet night roads
To find your way to the sea
Lava meets the sea
watching the way nature moves
Feeling flesh and blood
from the distance, Aloha
hiding behind the bushes
No words of the sea
he never speaks of the sea
No love for the sea
I wither within his love
I hold the sea within me
